| In January 1955 the Interstate Parcel Express Company (IPEC) marked the beginning of the express freight industry in Australia by moving its first parcels between Melbourne and Adelaide.
The first Peugeot IPEC trucks set off on 13 January driven by Scotty Ireland in Adelaide and Norm Charleson in Melbourne. The two met late that night in the Victorian town of Nhill. Here they exchanged parcels and began the journey back to their respective cities.
In October 1998 Toll Holdings, another pioneering Australian transport company acquired IPEC. Toll continued to use the famous IPEC name, rebranding the business Toll IPEC.
